Climate Collaborative

The Climate Collaborative activates rigorous climate action in the grocery industry, helping companies turn climate ambition into collective action. Since 2017, it has supported thousands of leaders annually and inspired more than 700 companies to make public climate commitments.

Now Part of the OSC Community

In 2026, the Climate Collaborative announced it will integrate into One Step Closer, bringing trusted climate programs together with OSC’s leadership communities and collaboratives in one home for purpose-driven companies. The integration will take place over the remainder of 2026, with a shared commitment to continuity for the Climate Collaborative community and its flagship programs.

OSC’s Role in the Founding of the Climate Collaborative

The Climate Collaborative emerged from a shared belief among leaders in the natural food industry that by working together, we could significantly amplify our impact on reversing climate change. This initiative took root from a conversation between Jessica Rolph and Lara Dickinson, who, despite being in different parts of the country, both experienced the personal and professional impacts of climate change. They, along with Nancy Hirshberg and Katherine DiMatteo of the Sustainable Food Trade Association (SFTA), formulated a plan to drive meaningful climate action within the industry. The OSC and SFTA boards jointly approved the Climate Collaborative as a project in September 2016. By April 2017, the Sustainable Food Lab, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, joined as a partner and fiscal sponsor. This partnership underscored the collaborative’s commitment to driving impactful climate initiatives. Lara Dickinson, OSC Co-Founder and Executive Director, has served on the Climate Collaborative’s Board of Directors throughout.
