Member Spotlight: Liz Dee, CEO of Edward & Sons Trading Company, takes five to reflect on 5 simple questions. Enjoy!

OSC: Where do you call home (hometown or wherever you feel most at home)?
LD: Hudson Valley, New York
LD: Most people don’t know how much I love to garden. I keep cameras trained on my seedlings (in a grow tent) and garden beds so I can stay connected to what’s growing, even when I’m away.
OSC: What part of your work gives you the most energy right now?
LD: Our brand refresh is giving me a tremendous amount of energy. I have been enjoying Edward & Sons products my whole life and getting the packaging design to match the goodness of what’s inside – our quality, our values, our story – is incredibly energizing. It feels like a moment of real alignment for the business, and meaningful opportunity!
OSC: What’s a favorite childhood memory—funny or formative—that helped shape your path?
LD: As a fifth-generation food maker, I grew up in what felt like a real-life candyland. I toured candy factories and rollerbladed through warehouses. At home, my parents maintained an organic kitchen garden. I spent hours helping weed and – my favorite – picking plums, strawberries and raspberries, eating them fresh and warm from the sun. I saw both how food was grown and how it was made. That dual exposure shaped how I think about stewardship and systems and gave me a deep respect and appreciation for our planet’s natural resources as well as the people behind every product.
OSC: What’s something you’re fired up about that needs a whole new way of thinking?
LD: Bouillon! It makes so much sense – less weight, less packaging, and far more time and cost efficient. It boggles the mind that we buy liquid broth when a small package that fits in your hand can make 128 ounces, or 16 servings. Yet many people don’t even know what bouillon is or how to use it. Rethinking how we deliver everyday staples like broth is a small shift with outsized impact. It’s time for a bouillon revolution!
